A great trip to Guernsey at 69 nm. Sunrise, and flat water.
We set out at five in the morning, completely dark and overlooking the ocean, and get a fantastic sunrise along the way. It will be a beautiful day with brilliant sunshine, visits from many dolphins, but unfortunately little wind.
We are enjoying the day until we suddenly see a large boat coming from behind heading straight for us! When we hear Vue Mer being called on the VHF we understand what is happening - it is the coast guard who will come aboard. Soon 5 customs officers arrive with a rib, and enter the boat! We are a little excited about what this will entail, but are quickly reassured when they sit down and start talking to us. A very nice group who speak English and have a few simple questions. They also look down into the boat, but it is a very short "search."
We raise the yellow flag, and arrive at Saint Peter in Guernsey at the absolute lowest low tide after 9 hours, and find a place in the outer harbor. It is crowded with boats, but fortunately we have a place that is easy to get out of.
We check in, raise the Guernsey guest flag, and take a look around the town to map out which shops we'll visit tomorrow. We'll have a good meal before gathering our strength for tomorrow on the boat.
