We enjoy Gotland and want to see more, so we rent a car to explore the island further.
Start early in the morning and first visit the "Lummalunda Caves". The outer parts of the Lummelund caves have been known for centuries, as it was a good place for those who lived there to store fresh produce, as the temperature there is between 5 and 12 degrees Celsius. The first description of the Lummelunda cave was made in 1741 by Carl von Linné. It was during a tour of Gotland that Linné wrote about how the water from Martebo bog went underground and then reappeared below the cliff at Lummelund's mill. Several attempts to penetrate the cave failed until three Visby boys in 1950 reached significantly further in when they accidentally loosened a stone, and once revealed themselves to them and took them into a large hall in the mountain. However, it was not until 1955 before they told others about their discovery. The cave has since been, and is still being explored, and is now Sweden's second deepest cave and extends almost 4 kilometers into the mountain.
The next stop is the cliff "Jungfrun". Jungfrun is a cliff on Jungfruklint. The cliff is Gotland's largest, and its highest point is 12 meters above the plateau and 26 meters above sea level.
We drive south where we drive through empty pastures and finally to "Tofte Strand". There are an incredible number of people here, but also a great beach and lots of restaurants and more. The whole family gets out into the water and takes a swim in the Baltic Sea!
We have to finish our visit to the beach to catch the "Adventure Mini Golf" which is a great success. The tour ends with a visit to the lookout point at "Högaklint".
In the evening we enjoy the lovely warmth and have dinner at a sidewalk restaurant while the sun warms our faces.
