Early out as we will cross a body of water before the first lock which opens at 9 a.m. This is a lock staircase with 5 locks and a gradient of 15 meters, making it the steepest lock staircase in the canal.

After the locks it is a nice and calm journey with only countless bridges to be opened. Even a couple of railway bridges before we reach Motala where the canal company is located, and can cross Vättern to Karlsborg.

There will be some tension right after Motala as we will again go under a bridge that is 22 meters high - but of course it goes well this time too.

In Karlsborg we are lucky and get the last long side spot. We have some expectations for the place, but we are actually disappointed. The highlight of the town is the raggers who drive back and forth, buzzing along the hill with the music at full blast.

But we take a trip to Karlsborg Fortress and see an exhibition and go on a treasure hunt. Great fun for the kids, and luckily no rain was in the forecast.

Hello,

Thank you for stopping by!

Hi, our names are Ida and Anders.

This is the story of how we, with completely different backgrounds and experiences from sea life, work together towards our great goal.

This page tries to collect our experiences at sea as a family. From the humble beginnings of renting a boat in Croatia, our first own boat, Step by Step, to our new boat, Vue Mer II.

The goal is for the family to embark on a sailing trip on the seven seas within a few years.
