Then we will finally get to Poland.
We raise anchor at 05.30 in the morning and set course east. The conditions are perfect with winds around 8-10 m/s, and we manage to maintain an average speed of 9 knots. Olivia sleeps and relaxes in her cabin, and only looks up at 11 o'clock.
As we approach Ustka the wind starts to pick up and the seas get bigger and bigger. We have to go quite far out to avoid getting into a shooting range, and when we turn towards Ustka we get the seas in the middle of the side. It gets quite uncomfortable for the last 2 hours, and it is especially good to get inside the breakwater after a 9 hour trip.
Once inside the breakwater, there is one last obstacle - a swinging footbridge that blocks the approach every hour for twenty minutes. But we manage it with a five-minute margin and can start looking for a place to moor.
We are given a seat by the harbor guard over VHF and are met by two police officers and a harbor helper when we dock. We have to show our passports, and they help us dock and get paid. About 300,- per night.
However, it turns out that the place is completely useless. The swell comes in from the sea into the canal, and the boat is pulled back and forth with a lot of force in the ropes. We have to get some food, and eat at the nearest restaurant with a view of the boat - we quickly realize that this is not a place to stay if we don't want to damage something on the boat.
We get hold of the Harbour Guard on VHF again, and he shows us a new place to lie down. Here we lie very nice and quiet, and we can finally relax and see what Ustka has to offer.
There will be a short trip to the pier, Olivia can buy some souvenirs and we will have some ice cream before we crawl into Vue Mer for a nice shower.
And tomorrow we will test the wonderful beach they have here!
