We round the southern tip of Sweden

The canal only opens every two hours, so we make sure to catch the bridge opening at 08:00 to go through.

We have prepared all the sails, so when we get through the canal we will hoist full sail with Code 0 and mainsail. Great wind coming in at 90 degrees, so we will sail away at 8-10 knots - great!

Once in Ystad we find a longside berth. A bit short for the boat, but we get there eventually. We realise it's a sailing holiday when the Skipper manages to break his little toe as we're about to dock - a tradition!

Once moored, the trip goes directly to "Ystad Skeppshandel" - a fantastically cool boat equipment store and I recommend everyone to stop by! There will also be time for an ice cream.

Marthe and Andreas have a house down here, and Marthe recommends that we go to "Ystad Saltsjöbad" for lunch and then go swimming on the beach - it was supposed to be a 20-minute walk, but luckily we have scooters - which also take 20 minutes!

Once there, it turns out that the food service for lunch had ended! Luckily, we find a place that sells Pizza that we take down to the beach. The beach, however, is fantastic - sandy beach as far as the eye can see. Both girls take a bath, while Skipper enjoys lying in the sun and just relaxing.

Spend the rest of the evening in the harbor, where we will have dinner with the "world's" largest Snitzel. Lots of rain is forecast for tomorrow, and up to 18 m/s in gusts. This means we decide to stay another day in Ystad as we plan to go to Bornholm, which is quite a distance away.

Hello,

Thank you for stopping by!

Hi, our names are Ida and Anders.

This is the story of how we, with completely different backgrounds and experiences from sea life, work together towards our great goal.

This page tries to collect our experiences at sea as a family. From the humble beginnings of renting a boat in Croatia, our first own boat, Step by Step, to our new boat, Vue Mer II.

The goal is for the family to embark on a sailing trip on the seven seas within a few years.
